BLC GENERAL MANAGER

I want to take a moment to thank you for stopping by our website. It has been a decade in the making and has been created with the support and direction of many people for whom I am most grateful. As the whole Legends of the Negro Leagues idea began to take shape I hesitated momentarily; I had to question if the resources necessary to achieve a desired outcome would be available. It was soon clear to me that after the first step was taken whether there was or there wasn’t, there was no looking back. I was compelled to do all that it would take to get it done. The program began to take shape in just a few short months. Support miraculously appeared when it was so critically needed. Before leaving my home office in search of the Living Legends, I was joined by my close friend Jacob. He joined me on both the second and third leg of the journey. He played an instrumental part in helping secure the digital video, photos, and interviews upon which this program was built. Family and friends rose to the call on many occasions; whether it was in the spirit of their love and encouragement or in their generosity in both time and financial support. Each and every one of you left your print on this program – you should be proud - I am extremely greatful (visit our Supporting Cast to read more).

Much of the information offered throughout this presentation has been derived from personal interviews and additional correspondence with the men we refer to as our NLB Living Legends and their loving families. I am awed by their historical participation in the great Negro Leagues and truly grateful for their willingness to share their experiences to support the program. A special thanks to each of our NLB Living Legends and their families.

Many fine books have been written regarding the Negro Leagues. It was a privilege to have met Mr. John Holway author of “The Complete Book of Baseball’s Negro Leagues: The Other Half of Baseball History.” Thanks for your years of dedicated service and for graciously allowing us to use your book as a co-cornerstone in our presentation.

We extend a special thanks to Mr. Jed Clauss of Amereon House, publisher of “The Negro Baseball Leagues - A Photographic History” as well. Each time I read through this book it is more enjoyable than the time before. We are grateful for your allowing us to use your book as the other cornerstone in our presentation.

I am sure there are people that I have forgotten to mention and for this I apologize. Know that each of you is truly appreciated.

I could have never imagined the impact that this program would have on my life. Each and every step of the way has presented challenges that have given me further insight and appreciation for the men that we represent. I am thrilled to share these experiences and hope that you enjoy the presentation.
